Global Ex Solutions has launched a new CompEx training and competency facility at the awe-inspiring Eaton Experience Center, Houston. The center enables GExS to deliver world-leading training leading to the globally-recognized CompEx qualification which is essential for personnel working in organizations with hazardous (classified) locations. CompEx training was originally devised to ensure competency and safety in the highly regulated energy sector, but it is now the globally-recognized standard for personnel working across a wide range of industries including oil and gas, chemical, pharmaceutical, agricultural and food production. CompEx courses are aimed at electrical workers, technicians, engineers, and inspectors who install, operate, maintain, inspect and/or design electrical equipment that is used in hazardous locations. The content of the courses is largely focused on NEPA 70 National Electrical Code Articles 511- 517, IEC 60079 and ATEX. As well as the industries listed above, the following sectors are covered by the codes: Commercial Garages, Repairs and Storage, Aircraft Hangers, Motor Fuel Dispensing Facilities, Bulk Storage Plants, Spraying Application, Dipping, Coating, and Printing Processes Using Flammable or Combustible Materials, Health Care Facilities. GExS Managing Director, Tony Scott, states, “The launch of the CompEx center at the Eaton Experience Center provides an exceptional platform for competency and safety in highly regulated industries across the US that have atmospheric hazards as part of their processes. We’re helping to shape the future by sharing our expertise and experience with the next generation of talent who will be critical in ensuring that the US remains an engineering powerhouse and addresses the world’s most difficult challenges.”
