Who Should Take the CompEx Foundation Course (CompEx F 60079) and Why
In today’s industrial landscape, ensuring the safety of electrical equipment in hazardous environments is paramount. The individual CompEx Foundation courses cover three different types of standards and codes: IEC 60079 (inc. ATEX), NEC 500 ‘Class and Division, and NEC 505 ‘Class and Zone. All are delivered over two separate days. They are designed to provide theoretical foundation training on selecting, installing, inspecting, and maintaining electrical equipment in explosive atmospheres.
We can also add a practical element called CompEx Foundation Plus. This course is now a key component of our training repertoire, enabling key personnel to take a two-day CompEx Foundation class before attempting the five-day CompEx Ex01-04 class, which also assesses competency. The CompEx Foundation course also opens up hazardous locations for any staff related to this area, such as engineers, planners, salespeople, and procurement staff. Due to customer demand, we now offer open courses for CompEx Foundation IEC 60079 (inc ATEX).
Electrical Engineers and Technicians
Electrical engineers and technicians are often responsible for designing and maintaining systems that operate in hazardous environments. The CompEx F 60079 course equips them with the knowledge to ensure that their designs and installations comply with international safety standards, thereby reducing the risk of incidents.
Instrumentation Engineers and Technicians
Instrumentation professionals deal with control and automation systems in explosive atmospheres. This course helps them understand the specific requirements for ensuring the safety and reliability of these critical systems.
Maintenance Personnel
Regular inspection and maintenance are crucial for the safe operation of electrical equipment in hazardous areas. Maintenance personnel trained in the CompEx F 60079 course can identify potential issues before they lead to failures or accidents.
Health and Safety Managers
Health and safety managers are tasked with overseeing the overall safety protocols within an organization. This course provides them with the technical understanding necessary to develop and implement effective safety policies for explosive atmospheres.
Project Managers
Project managers who oversee projects involving hazardous areas benefit from understanding the technical and safety requirements. This knowledge enables them to ensure that projects are completed safely and in compliance with relevant standards.
Why Take the CompEx F 60079 Course?
Compliance with International Standards, the course is based on the IEC 60079 series of standards, which are recognized globally. This ensures that participants are trained to meet the highest levels of safety compliance.
Enhanced safety knowledge: participants gain a deep understanding of the principles of explosion protection, which is essential for preventing accidents and ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment.
Career Advancement: holding a CompEx certification can significantly enhance a professional’s credentials, opening up opportunities for career advancement in industries where safety is paramount.
Practical Skills: the course combines theoretical knowledge with practical skills, ensuring that participants can apply what they have learned directly to their work environments.
Risk Reduction: properly trained personnel can identify and mitigate risks associated with explosive atmospheres, leading to fewer incidents and lower operational costs.
